Terms of service

Version 1 · Last updated October 27, 2026

These terms cover your use of MAKA at themaka.app. By making an account or using MAKA, you agree to them and to our privacy policy. MAKA is in beta: features change, some are switched off, and things may break. We provide it as it is, and we will keep improving it.

Who can use MAKA

You must be 18 or older and able to make a binding agreement. Keep your account details accurate and your password private, and use one account per person or farm. Access during the beta is by invitation or access code; please do not share the code publicly.

What MAKA is, and is not

MAKA is a directory of local food sellers, tools to plan your week, and a way for farms, households and a coordinator to run a pickup ring. MAKA is not a seller or a buyer. It does not own, store, handle or deliver the food, and it does not take payment for it during the beta. Every purchase is between you and the farm: farms set their prices, are responsible for their food, its safety, labeling and the permits it needs, and households are responsible for paying the farm as the farm asks and for picking up on time.

Fees

MAKA charges no fees during the beta. Later, MAKA may charge a small transaction fee on orders placed through MAKA. Any fee will be shown clearly before you order, and MAKA never marks up the price a farm sets. We will tell you before any fee starts.

Records and the assistant

We check each seller record against the seller's own information and show the date we checked, but records can be wrong or go out of date: confirm prices, availability and pickup times with the seller. The assistant answers from MAKA's records and can still make mistakes. Nothing in MAKA is medical, legal, tax or investment advice. Sample data in MAKA is marked as sample and describes no real farm, buyer or order.

Farms and coordinators

If you post offers, keep them accurate and honor the preorders you accept, or tell the coordinator and the household as soon as you cannot. Follow the laws that apply to what you sell, including Texas rules for cottage foods, meat, eggs and raw milk. A coordinator runs pickups fairly, keeps households' details to the pickup, and tells people promptly when something changes.

Your content

What you put into MAKA stays yours. You give MAKA permission to store and process it to run the service, including sending it to the providers named in the privacy policy. Do not upload anything you do not have the right to share, or other people's private information. If you send us feedback, we may use it to improve MAKA.

Fair use

Do not misuse MAKA: no attempts to break in, overload or scrape it, no spam, no impersonating a farm or another person, no claiming a listing that is not yours, and nothing illegal. We may limit, suspend or close accounts that do, and we may change or end parts of the beta.

Texts

If you link a phone to MAKA's farm text line once it is on, MAKA will text you only about your listings and offers. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop and HELP for help.

Limits of our responsibility

To the fullest extent the law allows, MAKA is provided without warranties, and MAKA is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for the food, conduct or payments of farms, households or coordinators. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the fees you paid MAKA in the past twelve months or $100.

Changes and law

We may update these terms; we will change the date above and tell you in the app about important changes. These terms are governed by the laws of Texas, and disputes will be heard in the courts of Travis County, Texas.
